The H4p Organization Promotes Ability In Disability Through The Inter-Tertiary Ability Praise Concert

The H4P (Here for Perfection) Organisation has once again promoted ability in disability through the Inter-Tertiary Ability Praise Concert (APC). The annual event which was launched in February, 2022 by the H4P organization, is currently the biggest entertainment platform in Ghana that presents Persons with disability (PWDs) the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in the Arts and Entertainment industry. This year’s special feature was an Inter-Tertiary Competition, the first of its kind in the country, amongst PWDs from the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, University of Education-Winneba, and Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology. Organised as part of activities to commemorate the 13th Anniversary of the H4P Organization, the momentous occasion was marked by an incredible display of talent – singing, spoken word, poetry recital and choreography. The cheers, excitement and applause by the audience were evidence of the marvel at the fantastic array of talent being showcased.

Bishop Dr. Charles Hackman - Lead Pastor, Fire City Chapel

Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman, Founder and CEO of the H4P Organization, in an interview before the event spoke about the uniqueness of this year’s APC. The Inter-Tertiary APC sought to throw the spotlight on Tertiary Education for PWDs by first of all encouraging parents and guardians of PWDs to aspire for higher learning for their wards regardless of their disability. It also aimed at presenting the myriad of challenges faced by PWDs in the tertiary institutions to policy makers and the relevant stakeholders. According to the CEO, the foundation of this year’s Inter-Tertiary APC is premised on the current vision and a major project of the H4P Organization which is the establishment of the Ability University College, a tertiary institution for PWDs in Ghana.

Over the years, PWDs have been segregated, marginalised and discriminated against as a result of their disabilities. The H4P Organization, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, recognising this menace, has for 13 years focused on projecting and promoting the abilities of Persons with Disability.
The Inter-Tertiary Ability Praise Concert, which took place on 3rd February at Fire City Chapel was therefore not just an event of fun and excitement but also gave PWDs in the tertiary institutions a platform for their voices to be heard, talents to be seen and concerns to be addressed. Through the Inter-Tertiary APC, the essential role PWDs play in shaping the future of our dear nation, Ghana was further projected as it created an auspicious and esteemed platform for PWDs in the tertiary institutions to serve as role models for other PWDs to rise beyond their disability and succeed in life.
The Special Guest of Honour for the event Eng. Dr. Mrs Millicent Agangiba, Head of Department for Information Technology, UPSA, in her speech congratulated and commended Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman for 13 years of successful disability advocacy through various nobel and life-changing projects and initiatives. Certificates of Participation and gifts were presented to the participants of the tertiary institutions present. Citations were also given to Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman in appreciation and recognition for his consistency, ingenuity and dedication in bringing dignity to disability.
This year’s Inter-Tertiary APC is another brilliant addition to the numerous projects being embarked on by the H4P Organization as it pertains to education. Other projects for special needs students include the H4P National Inter-Schools Disability Fun Games, Career Guidance and counselling sessions and the Celebration of Love projects, where donations are made and free health screening exercises are organized in special needs schools.
